Dedication (for Gabi) sits at intersection of neo-classical scoring infused with melancholic piano, electronica fx and ethereal vocals. The roots of this piece are firmly planted in the neo-classical tradition of string writing, with clear parallels to Marks’ work as a composer of film scores. This track bends genres, redefines rules, bringing a chamber ensemble aesthetic into the 21st Century. Marks composed all elements of the track, performed, recorded and produced all the keyboard and synthesizer elements, while the strings were performed by the Budapest Art Orchestra and vocals by rising star Arta Jēkabsone.
