what does it mean to let go? when you give up something, you create space for something new to happen. in the case of releasing something, you make space for someone to bring their story/experience, and find new meaning in something youve created that you couldn’t predict. you can benefit from seeing / listening to your work again with fresh ears, vicariously through someone else’s perspective. the more music I release, the clearer it becomes that one cannot control the outcomes. you can only set things up for ‘success’, whatever that means to you. Instead, I embrace the uncertainty of not knowing how something will be received, taking solace in (1) the creative process kinds was the ends in and of itself; and (2) the authenticity of the work seems to always find its audience, and when it does, it brings unexpected (often exciting) outcomes.every release - from singles to eps - has had its own little ‘win’, from radio spins, to reviews, to comments, write ups, a feature or interview. none of which I expected before releasing.massive gratitude to @wearestereofox for the deep dive on the world of Cinematic Chromatics Vols. III ahead of its release this F R I D A Y F E B 7th 🎯🚀💙 here’s a little excerpt on how the series came about: after two years writing for and playing in a band that hosted jams in an abandoned warehouse, I continued that momentum in writing new material for my own project. The first demo of this series began on a Feb 6 2020. I know this because that was the name of the pro tools session file, until it became “Ride The Dragon”. the writing, recording, mixing and mastering process wouldn’t be complete until the middle of 2022. I can’t really overstate how much I was building the plane while flying it. I moved between writing expansive cinematic jazz and orchestral arrangements to other tracks that were a futuristic fusion of lo-fi inspired jazzy beats, Brazilian influences and elecrornica elements. these are the sonic aesthetics that make my musical world what it is; and I wanted to join the dots between them to create a soundtrack for your everyday. the first single, Ride The Dragon, dropped in Feb of 2023. it seems fitting then to complete the series by releasing Vol. III and the last feature single “C U R R E N T L O C A T I O N” on Feb 7th.
